'Roger'
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, father in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother in-law, uncle and friend, William Harold Marsden of Pinaymootang First Nation, on August 1, 2026 at the Health Science Centre at the age of 87 years with family by his side.
Roger is survived by his Children Wilfred (Martha), Raymond (Angie), Orlena (Barry), Cyndi, Loretta, Leonard (Tammy), Caroline, Jason, Greg (Lydia), Grant, along with their mother, Olive Marsden; William (Tanya), Stephanie (Clifford) Brent (Ashley), Roanna (Randy); His Sister Betty Bernice Anderson; His 71 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren to numerous to mention.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Martha and Charlie Marsden; his brothers Raymond (Cool It) Marsden, Joseph (Fox) Marsden, Earl Marsden, John Marsden; his sisters Caroline Bruce, Carrie Letandre, Maryann Ryle; his children Martha Marsden, Muriel Woodhouse; his grandchildren Destiny, Tyrell, Joseph, and Leya; his Sister In-laws Sarah Marsden, and Irene Marsden Brother In-law Peter Anderson.
Dad lived a full and beautiful life in Fairford, Manitoba, until he moved to independent living in Moosehorn 13 years ago. A man of many talents, Dad was passionate about music, often found playing the fiddle and various other instruments. He cherished the moments spent with his brothers and friends, creating memories as they played together, filling the air with music and laughter.
One of his favorite traditions was playing the fiddle and getting his granddaughters to dance to the Red River jig, a testament to his love for family and music. However, after the loss of his beloved brother Raymond, Dad set aside his instruments, finding it too difficult to continue without him.
In his younger years, Dad was a skilled fisherman, trapper, hunter, and mechanic, embodying the spirit of a true outdoorsman. He had a unique and playful relationship with his grandchildren, refusing to let them call him “Grandpa.” Instead, he insisted on being called “young man,” often playfully ignoring them until they followed his wishes. His affectionate nature extended to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom received a special nickname, reflecting the love and joy he brought into their lives.
Dad will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his family, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
A Special Thank You
From our whole hearts, we extend our deepest gratitude to our sister-in-law, Martha, for the extraordinary love, compassion, and unwavering care she gave our dad. Her kindness, patience, and selfless devotion allowed him to remain surrounded by comfort, dignity, and love throughout his later years.
Because of Martha’s dedication, we were blessed with precious extra years, creating memories and sharing moments with him that our family will cherish forever. She looked after him as though it were her greatest calling, always ensuring he was safe, cared for, and never alone.
There are no words that could ever truly express the gratitude we feel. Her grace, strength, and unconditional love made an immeasurable difference not only in Dad’s life, but in the lives of everyone who loved him.
From our whole hearts, thank you, Martha. Your love and care will never be forgotten, and our family will be forever grateful for the love you showed dad.

Wake Service: Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Service: Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the House of Prayer, Fairford, Manitoba.
Interment will be held at the St. Helen's Anglican Church Cemetery, Fairford, Manitoba
