It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved; daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunty, cousin, and friend, Tanisha Valene Garrioch, of Peguis First Nation and Pimicikamak Cree Nation, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
Tanisha was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 11, 1995, to Alpheus Garrioch and Therese Lavonne Garrioch (Wilson).
She was predeceased by her beautiful mom, Therese Garrioch (Bon) of Peguis First Nation; her Papa, Irvin Wilson of Peguis First Nation; her Grannie, Ella Garrioch of Pimicikamak Cree Nation; and her great-grandparents, Carl and Mary Bird of Peguis First Nation. Pimicikamak Cree Nation
Tanisha leaves to mourn her loving dad, Ali Garrioch; her brother, Daniel Garrioch; her grandmother, Dolly Wilson of Peguis First Nation; her grandfather Simeon Garrioch of Pimicikamak Cree Nation; and numerous cousins and extended family from Peguis and Pimicikamak Cree Nation, including the Wilson, Bird, Garrioch, and McKay families.
Tanisha was a kind-hearted soul. We all knew that she lived a life that was not always easy. Since the age of nine, she faced sickness and battles that most would struggle to endure — yet she carried herself with a beautiful heart. Even through hardship, she lived her life with an infectious spirit and an energy that touched everyone around her. Her infectious life, contagious laugh, and genuine warmth made it impossible not to smile when she was near.
Nisha remained happy, full of empathy, joy, humour, love, and kindness. She had a humble spirit and had friends of all ages — she knew everyone. She was “Auntie Nisha” to many children and the number one babysitter for so many families in Peguis. Her love for children and her gentle nature made her someone people trusted deeply and held close to their hearts.
All she ever wanted was her mom, and we take comfort knowing their reunion was the most beautiful one we can imagine.
Let her life be an example of how we should all live — in a way that leaves such an impact that others are inspired to be kind. Live in a way where, when your time comes, people can speak only good of you.
Rest peacefully, Nish. You are now free from pain and from the ache of missing your mom. You will forever be deeply loved, remembered, and gently carried in our hearts.
Wake Service: Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Peguis Church, Peguis, Manitoba
Funeral Service: Friday, February 20, 2026, viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m., service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Peguis Church, Peguis, Manitoba

Interment: St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery, Peguis First Nation, Manitoba.

The family would like to thank everyone for being here, for coming to visit, and for your prayers and support during this incredibly difficult time. Your presence is comforting beyond words. We extend our sincere appreciation to Chief and Council, and to all the families and friends who travelled near and far to walk alongside us in our time of grief.
