Samuel will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and proud grandfather to his cherished “Choomy’s,” who meant the world to him. He carried a deep love for his family and showed it in the way he cared, supported and stood by them through everything.
He was devoted to his work, taking pride in what he did and giving his best each day. His strong work ethic and dedication were a reflection of the kind of man he was—reliable, hardworking, and committed. Samuel’s presence, his love and his quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family and kindness that will never be forgotten.
It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Abraham George announces his sudden passing into the Spirit World, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at his residence in Chemawawin Cree Nation.
Samuel was born on Wednesday, September 25, 1963, to Victoria George and Malachi Young in Cedar Lake, Manitoba (Chemawawin Reserve). He relocated in 1964 at the age of 10 months, due to relocation by Manitoba Hydro.
Samuel worked for Chemawawin Cree Nation for many years as a Septic Pump Truck Driver. He also worked for Easterville Community Council for a few years, as a carpenter in Thompson, Manitoba, and in his younger years as a fisherman’s helper. He worked diligently to provide for his family; he was known to be a devoted employee who didn’t believe in taking holidays or annual leave. He attended KCC, (UCN) in The Pas, Manitoba and obtained his Carpentry Certificate.
Samuel was predeceased by his mother Victoria George on July 5, 2003 and his father Malachi Young; sister Elsie Fiddler on November 14,1990; brother Hubert (Ness) George on July 15, 2022; grandparents, Geordie George and Elizabeth George; mother in-law Emmalynn Thomas; aunties, Edith Umpherville, Ida Thickfoot, Alice and Rachel George; uncles, Adam and McLeod George, Pat Umpherville and Walter Thickfoot; brother in-law Sheford Thomas; and cousins, too numerous to mention.
Samuel is survived by his loving wife Beverly, who he was married to for 26 years; his children, Tiffany, Tanya (Stephen) and Thea (Branston); maternal siblings, Roy (Maureen) Bruce and Lorraine George; paternal siblings, Pierre (John-Wayne), Josephine, Carson, Melody, Coreen and Trina; his grandchildren whom he loved so much, Lucas, Elsie, Lane, Shiloh, Sawyer, Gail, Grayden, London, Tio and Royden; nieces, Shannon, Shauntelle and Autumn-Rayne; nephew Roy Fiddler; other nieces and nephews on the paternal side of the Young family; father in-law Peter Thomas; sisters in-law, Ethel (Joe) Chartrand and Loretta (Dennis) Patchinose; brothers in-law, Norris (Lora) Thomas, Quincy (Grace) Thomas and Percy Thomas; godchildren, Bernard Daniels, Peydon Captain, Recco, Brennan and Victoria Young, Gerald and Hope Thomas, Charlie Patchinose, Slayter and Tyerra Lavallee.
The family would like to thank Chemawawin Cree Nation and everyone who helped in any way.
