Funeral Details
In Loving Memory of our Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend
Lovingly called Mallett and Pops by the family, with family by his side, John peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the age of 82 years.
He leaves to carry on his memory, his wife of 22 years Jane; his children Ruby, Arlene (Mark) and Marshall (Tina); his stepchildren Wilma (Levy), Gertrude (Clifford), Sharon, Mari (Leon) and Stephen (Cheryl); his brother and sisters Elsie (Jim), Noreen, Meryl, Ivan (Yvonne), Joanne (Jim), Marlene (Glen) and Beryl (Anthony); 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. As well numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
John was predeceased by his parents John W. and Nora Mallett; his son Wayne; his brother Brian and a grandson in infancy; his stepson Sheldon; the mother of his children Agnes; brothers-in-law Ed, Roy and Arnold and most recently, his cherished Uncle Frank.
Mallett worked a variety of jobs in his younger years, then began his career as an addictions counsellor. He worked at the Main Street Project in Winnipeg for many years. Then moved on to Churchill and The Pas, again as a counsellor and back to the Main Street Project until his retirement. During his holidays he would come home to visit with his family and at times, pick up mom Nora for trips to visit family or sightseeing through the country.
Mallett moved back home to Fisher River in 2004. His retirement years were mainly staying home and spending time with Jane, in the company of their canine babies Rex and Koby, and visits with family and friends. He truly enjoyed taking Uncle Frank out for rides.
Despite the medical issues Mallett endured, he maintained his independence and strength throughout the years. We are thankful he got to enjoy life on his terms. The Mallett family acknowledges Jane for the dedication and love she shared with our brother. We appreciate all that you did for him. We love you.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation for the care given to our Pops – our Mallett – Fisher River Health Home Care, the Staff of Percy E. Moore Hospital, Fisher River Chief & Council, friends and visitors. Thank you for your care, love and kindness.

CELEBRATE
Remember me with love and joy
Let gratitude fill your heart
Thankful for the time we had.
Gone…but not apart.
If we measured life in moments,
Not in months and years,
Then I lived a hundred lifetimes,
Loved by all who held me dear.
I hope you’ll find your smile
And generously speak my name,
Laugh and share stories,
Your love for life…keep unchanged.
Celebrate the life I lived
I’ll be watching from above.
I am always with you,
Sending everyone…my light and love.
And Jesus said when you pray, say:
“Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen"
