Funeral Details
Gerald Thomas peacefully and quietly returned home to the light on October 6, 2026, from his residence in Misipawistik Cree Nation (MCN).
Gerald (Boog) was a gentle soul who shared kindness and humour as he walked his path. He will be remembered for the small acts of kindness he shared. His door was always open; he gave his time and shared his laughter and friendship freely. Boog reminds us that you don’t have to change the world to make it a better place, all it takes is being there for one another. And that is legacy worth celebrating.
He was highly intelligent and found happiness in nature and on the lake. Following in his father’s footsteps, he chose a life as a commercial fisherman, where the beauty and freedom of the outdoors allowed his spirit to grow strong and content. His friendships with fellow fishermen were grounded in mutual respect, shared experiences, and a deep understanding of the waters they knew so well.
He shared a deep and unwavering love for his mother, Agnes Thomas, remaining close to her throughout his life. He loved his brother Donald Thomas and his devoted sisters, Margaret, Maureen, Georgina, Wanda, Brenda, and Christina, wholeheartedly, and he was proud of each one. He loved every one of his nieces and nephews and he made sure he was there for them as as they grew. And as a son, brother, and uncle, he leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love. He will live on their stories; their lifetimes intertwined.
His lifelong friendships with his best buddies, Abner Cook (Abby), Peter Beardy (Packer), Harold Turner, Harvey James, Clarence Cook, and Greg Sinclair filled his life with laughter, loyalty, and countless, unforgettable memories. Their bond was built on years of friendship, shared adventures, and the kind of brotherhood that grows stronger with time. Boog will always be a part of their stories, as they have been a big part of his.
He is reunited with the loved ones who have gone before him. Boog is happy, healthy, and yes, as handsome as ever. He is home, where the celebrations continue with family, friends, and countless others.
Gerald was predeceased by his wife Helena Greene, stepdaughters Gayle and Robin, his father Donald George Thomas, his niece Destiny Dawn Turner, her son Chase Thomas Martin, his nephew Dustin Thomas, great nephew Nova Rode-White, and great niece Shaydence Karol.
Pallbearers include Abner Cook, Clarence Cook, Harold Turner, Greg Sinclair, Harvey Cook, and Ray Cook.
Honourary Pallbearers include Donald Thomas, Shayne Karol, Jamie Thomas-Rode, Kerry Thomas, Stewart Thomas Nepinak, Brayden Thomas, Chris Arthurson, Cody Arthurson, Kane Arthurson, Connor Arthurson, and Gerelle Turner.
He leaves behind his beloved mother, Agnes Thomas, whom he loved so dearly, his beautiful sisters Margaret, Maureen, Georgina, Wanda, Brenda, and Christina, his beloved brother Donald Thomas, stepsons, Matthew and David Greene. nieces Wendy, Nikki, Chasity, Summer, Lexi, Journey, and Jordee, and his nephews Shayne, Jamie, Kerry, Stewart, Brayden, Chris, Cody, Kane, Connor, Gerelle, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
His memory will also live on in the stories told by his hundreds of wonderful cousins, like Jeff Cook (Knackers) and other great friends like the Chartiers, and too many others to name.
So long Boog. May your light shine brightly, and may your journey be filled with love, laughter, and beautiful reunions.
You will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.

You Meant So Much
By: Cassie Mitchell
You meant so much to all of us
You were special and that's no lie
You brightened up the darkest day
And the cloudiest sky
Your smile alone warmed hearts
Your laugh was like music to hear
I would give absolutely anything
To have you well and standing near
Not a second passes
When you're not on our minds
Your love we will never forget
The hurt will ease in time
Many tears I have seen and cried
They have all poured out like rain
I know that you are happy now
And no longer in any pain.
