With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Franklin “Frankie” Beardy, who began his eternal rest on July 29, 2026, at 2:10 p.m., surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 88 years old.
Frankie was born on October 5, 1937, to Emma and Solomon Beardy in Lake St. Martin. From an early age, he embraced a life of hard work and dedication. Alongside his father and brother Kenneth, they built a farming operation where he learned the values of perseverance and respect for the land. He was very knowledgeable in agriculture.
A proud outdoorsman, Frankie had a deep love for hunting, fishing, and trapping. Every adventure became an opportunity to teach valuable life lessons to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was known as a man of many talents, working throughout his life as a commercial fisherman, trapper, woodcutter, and farmer. His incredible work ethic carried him well into his eighties, continuing to work until he was 82 years old.
From 1977 to 1994, Frankie served the people of Lake St. Martin First Nation as a councillor. He was committed to his community and always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
Frankie will be forever remembered for his sense of humour, quiet strength, gentle wisdom, unwavering love for his family, and the example he set through a lifetime of hard work, humility, and faith. His legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
Above all, Frankie was a man of faith. In the days before his passing, he requested to receive Holy Communion, finding comfort and strength in his relationship with God. Even as his health declined, he continued to pray until the very end. His steadfast faith guided him throughout his life and brought him peace as he prepared for his journey home.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Clint Beardy and Dennis (Cynthia) Beardy; his daughter, Erin (Ray); his adopted son, Norman Ryle; his brothers, David (Stella), Kingsley (Sylvia), Charles (Lucy), and Garnet; his sisters, Eleanor and Ida (Marshall/Budgie); his sisters-in-law, Margie P., Susan R. (Max), and Willie B; along with his cherished grandchildren, Melody, Jaydon, Chantel, Jennifer (Dwayne), Dennis, Clint Jr, Christine, Niveah, John Jr, Misty, Lance, Carson, Jack, Zack Franklin, Dominic, Reagen, Scarlett, Shelby, Ivy, Lily, Kashtin, Gavin and Hayden; Great-grandchildren, Colton, Kayson, Paisley, Tavian, Cedar, Walter, Genesis, Gianna (Gigi), Dwayne Jr, Drake, Oaklynn, Javontae and his special great grandson who he waited for to be born, Joji Dustin Franklin who he called “Little Frankie”. Special nephew Roddy. All nieces and nephews had a special bond with Frankie and they all looked up to him, extended family, and many many friends too lengthy to name.
Frankie was predeceased by his parents, Emma and Solomon Beardy; his brothers, Kenneth, Maurice, and Harry; his sisters-in-law, Sarah, Eva, Darlene, and Beatrice; his brother-in-law, Hughie; and daughter in-law, April Beardy.
A Funeral Service celebrating Frankie's life will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Beardy Ministries Church, New Obuskudayang, officiated by Pastor David Beardy.
