Bernie Fehr was welcomed into the arms of Jesus at 11:27 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the age of 84, with his family by his side.
Bernie is survived by his children, Lana (Darryl) Chartrand, Martha (Shawn) Corbin, Ben (Tanya) Fehr, Darla Davies and Kendall Hiebert (Jennifer). Bernie is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, Joel Fehr (Kerrie), Robyn Chartrand, Arielle Chartrand, Erin Corbin (Cory), Stephaney (John) Goettler, Tyler Corbin, Justin Fehr, Megan Fehr, Samantha Fehr, Kyla (Dallas) Kovaks, Derek (Brooklyn) Davies, Levi Hiebert, Seth Hiebert, Kyra Hiebert (Jeff) and Caleb Hiebert; along with nine great-grandchildren, Levi and Lucas Crockatt, Ellie and Jordyn Fehr, John Jr. and Maisey Goettler, Noa Davies, and Luca and Sophia Materi. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Guenther, Aggie Fehr and Mary (Sam) Small; his brother John (Sandra) Fehr; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernie was predeceased by his wife Darlene; his parents Isaac and Margaret Fehr; his sisters, Martha Fehr and Kathy Green; and infant grandchild Ashton Blair Davies.
Bernie was born on August 7, 1942 in Carrot River, Saskatchewan, eventually moving to Ideal, Manitoba in 1951 at the age of nine. Bernie was raised and attended school in Ideal, describing many adventures on the farm, especially in loving and protecting his flock of sheep. Bernie met his wife Darlene in 1965 and they were married on November 5, 1966, welcoming their four children in under four years.
Bernie’s life’s work was in construction, first in steel work and then in exterior renovations, founding and growing Sure-Clad Construction that continues to be operated by Joel since Dad's retirement. Bernie’s passion in life was his family, both his family of birth and his church family in Woodlands Gospel Chapel. Dad worked alongside Mom, raising the children and passing on culinary and holiday traditions as they went. Dad was a firm leader in our home, dedicated to passing on love and faith in Christ.
Bernie enjoyed social gatherings with friends and family, hunting, camping and fishing, and he could often be found studying the word of God to grow in his faith. One of his greatest passions was in serving and nurturing Woodlands Gospel Chapel for over 35 years alongside his wife Darlene until her passing. Bernie has maintained deep friendships with the brothers and sisters there, especially Tim Langrell and Mike and Karl Hueging, who continued to bless and minister to Dad right up to his passing.
The family would like to thank the staff at Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital and Rosewood Lodge for the care and compassion they provided.
Funeral Service: Sunday, August 30, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., with viewing beginning at 1:30 p.m., at New Life Church, 6106E Highway 67, Stonewall, Manitoba. Refreshments will be served following the service, followed by a private family interment.
